Erin E. Hughes

Hello!

I'm Erin, an award-winning, versatile communications professional heavily focused on design, strategic comms and branding. Endlessly inquisitive is how I would describe myself. I'm thankful there will always be answers for me to track down and new things for me to learn.

I've had a lifelong fascination with how people interact with the world and each other, which is what drove me to study communication, journalism and anthropology and has led me to work in both the public and private sectors. Wherever I am, I love connecting with people and listening to their stories. My passion is translating those stories into something visual and meaningful.

Right now, I am honing my skills in web and app development as I complete a master's in Emerging Media — an interest brought on by my transition over the last few years into designing for digital spaces. Having worked closely with a pair of overburdened developers on several projects, I was motivated to pitch in and start coding some of my own designs. In the next few years, I see myself leading a team of creatives who are equally as dedicated to telling stories in a straightforward, user-centered way as I am.

When I am away from my laptop, I am most likely with my little family. Though all three of us are tech-heads, we enjoy being outside together, especially if we are kayaking or hunting for rocks, which is a hobby I documented during my earliest endeavors with web development.
